Michael P. Kitchen, 54, of Westport, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Thomas E. and Virginia A. (Messier) Kitchen.
Mr. Kitchen was born in Fall River and had resided in Westport for most of his life. He was a commercial fisherman out of Westport Point for over 36 years and mentored many younger fishermen during his career. He was the owner and Captain of the White Cap VI and was very well known from Cape May, NJ to Gloucester, MA by those in the industry. He loved being on the water and cooking for his family. He was a very supportive and loyal son, brother and friend to many.
Survivors include his son: Ryan P. Kitchen of Fall River; his daughter: Emily K. Weibel of Mansfield, MA; 4 brothers: Thomas E. Kitchen, Jr. of Middletown, RI; Stephen Kitchen of Dartmouth; Paul B. Kitchen of Fairhaven; and Raymond Kitchen of Westport; 2 sisters: Susan Brown of Westport Point; and Nancy Harrington of Westport; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.
Memorial visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
