Laconia-----Sandra “Sandie” Lee Avery, 66, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.
Sandie was born in Franklin, N.H. on June 15, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Gerald and Daisy (Lockwood) Caldwell. Sandie grew up in Tilton and moved to Laconia after she married David Avery Sr.
Sandie had an easy going spirit and treasured her children and grandchildren. After raising her family, she became passionate about her “Headstart Kids” where she spent thirty years working for Community Action Headstart as a Transportation Expert. Over the years, Sandie and David felt privileged to help raise several foster children and the only thing that rivaled her love of children was her love of animals.
Sandie’s favorite things to do were visiting family, camping and attending pow wows.
Survivors include her beloved husband of forty-eight years, David Avery, Sr. of Laconia; two daughters, Janis Avery Chapman and her husband, Chris, of Gilford and Kimberly Ann (Avery) Clifford and her husband, Aaron, of Kittery, Maine; one son, David Avery, Jr., and his wife, Debra, of Dracut, Mass; a brother, Gerald “Cabby” Caldwell, and his wife, Penny, of Salisbury, N.H.; a sister, Betty Ann Boucher and her husband Bernie, of Conway, N.H. and four grandchildren, Greggory Chapman, Cory Chapman, Maegan Avery and Matthew Avery.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 4:00-7:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
Following the calling hours, a Memorial Service will be held at 7:00PM also at the Funeral Home.
