Mrs. Edna R. Flowers, a longtime Woburn resident passed away unexpectedly, December 6, 2014 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. She was 80 years of age. Edna was the beloved wife of the late Philip A. Flowers. Born in Malden she was one of eleven children of the late Emilio and Adelina (Giancolo) Mattucci.
Edna lived most of her life in Woburn and was a graduate of St. Charles High School. She was very talented with arts and crafts and for many years she taught ceramics at her home on Frances Street. Mostly devoted to family she cherished the times when the family would gather for the holidays, take a vacation or just hop in the car for a mystery ride. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and most recently celebrated her 80th birthday with her children in Ogunquit, Maine which brought great joy. Edna always enjoyed staying active and being involved in different things. For several years she volunteered two days a week at the Golden Gift Shop at the Woburn Senior Center where she had many dear friends and forged many strong relationships.
Edna will fondly be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and loving nana of five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by many more extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her late parents and husband, Edna is predeceased by her siblings, the late Angelina Belmonte, Eva Pinson, Edith Voight, Elvina Russell, Elnora Young, Eugene, Ralph, Dominic, John and Emilio Mattucci.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Catherine Flowers Bunch and her husband Jesse Bunch of Houston, TX, Philip Flowers and his wife Heather of Clarksville, OH, and Ellen Flowers of Woburn. She was the loving nana of Brittany and Sarah Bunch, Liberty, Michael and Nicholas Forand. She is also survived by nine loving great grandchildren. Sister-in-law of Rose Grafton of Reading and is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, December 12th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Edna's memory to the Woburn Senior Center 144 School St., Woburn, MA, 01801.
