John Ralph Hamilton, 83, of Tifton died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Conway Harris and Rev. Edwin Dillard officiating. Mr. Hamilton will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Troy Alan Hamilton Jr., Chance Alexander Anderson, Danny Ralph Hamilton Jr., Jordon Taylor Hamilton, Brennan Harris, Jason Guess, Jerry Camp and Tim Jerry will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hamilton was born on December 1, 1931 in Cool Springs and was the son of Nichelous Hamilton and Lena Wiley Hamilton, both deceased. He was retired from Tifton Textiles, where he was a maintenance supervisor and was a member of Believer’s Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joann Barfield Hamilton of Tifton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny Ralph and Christie Vance Hamilton of Atlanta, Kenneth Randall Hamilton of Smyrna and Troy Alan and Sharon Hamilton of Jasper; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Hamilton-Anderson and her husband, William "Bill" Anderson of Tifton; one sister, Shirley Revels of Tifton; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
