Obituary

Jewell F. (Booth) Leary, a 66 year resident of Melrose entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her home in Melrose following an extended illness.

Jewell was born in Malden on June 27, 1920, a daughter of the late Frances (Luprell) Booth. She grew up in Everett where she was educated and graduated from Everett High School in 1939. Jewell has been a homemaker most of her adult life where she dedicated herself to her husband and 3 children. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader but her most enjoyment in life was her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Jewell is the beloved wife of 69 years to Retired Melrose Police Officer Joseph A. Leary. She is the devoted mother of Janis Mastrorillo and her husband Roger of Melrose, Stephen Leary of Wakefield and the late Michael Leary. She is the loving Nana to 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is the sister of the late Betty Vereb.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jewell's Funeral on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 8 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church (corner of Myrtle & Herbert Streets) Melrose at 9 A.M. Burial will be at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
