CHICOPEE – Lillian L. (Masse) Georges, 94, a longtime resident of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, December 5, 2014. She entered into Eternal Life from Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Granby, Province of Quebec, Canada on September 19, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late Ovila J. Masse and Blanche (Desnoyers) Masse. She served her country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and attained the rank of Seaman First Class. She was a communicant of the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls where she was a member of their Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She leaves her beloved husband, Theofany Georges. They were married on May 31, 1947 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving sons, Ronald T. Georges and his wife, Elaine, of Chicopee and Donald R. Georges and his fiancée, Lucy, of Granby; her sister, Mary-Jane Pelletier of Chicopee; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Georges and Masse families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Rene Masse; and her sister, Cecile M. Champagne. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial with US Coast Guard Military Honors will be private. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
