Melvin Earl Danford, 73, of Fitzgerald died Friday, December 5, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Danford at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014, at Tift Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.
Masons will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Danford was born on January 17, 1941 in Blakely and was the son of O’Neal Danford and Ruby Williams Danford, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Ross Danford, who died in 2001; and two daughters, Sarah Danford Angle-Giddens and Jenny Durrance. He was retired and a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a Mason.
Mr. Danford is survived by his wife, Jean Stroud Lott of Fitzgerald; two sons, Byron Danford and Kenneth Danford, both of Enigma; two daughters, Melaney Weaver of Tifton and Sandra Marshall of Macon; three brothers, Larry Danford and Roger Danford, both of Enigma and Bobby Danford of Tavares, Florida; and one sister, Vivian Simmons of Oregon.
