NORTH TEWKSBURY - Lena I. (Lombardo) Amico, age 95, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in the Wingate at Andover following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore F. Amico, who died in 1997.
She was born in Marsala, Sicily, Italy, on December 1, 1919, a daughter of the late Anthony and Sebastiana (Bertolino) Lombardo, and emigrated with her family to the U.S. at the age of five. Her family settled in East Boston. In her adult years she lived in Lexington and Beverly before moving to Tewksbury in 1979, where she had lived with her daughter Rose Fazio and her family.
She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Andover, and in recent years, was active at the Tewksbury Senior Center.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marianna I. Ciulla and her husband Anthony C. of Gloucester, and Rose L. Fazio and her husband Salvatore J. of Tewksbury; four grandchildren, Joseph Fazio of Stoneham, Rose Ciulla-Bohling of PA, Rose Marie Curley of Wilmington, and Deacon Salvatore F. Fazio of West Newbury; eleven great grandchildren, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Isabella, Caroline, Salvatore, Ashley, Anna, Maria, Joseph, Andrew, and Eli; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Giacamo “Jack" Lombardo, Rose Lomuscio, Rosalie Guinta, and Mary Picardi.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main St. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett’s Pond Rd., Andover.
