George C. Kane, Jr., 92, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
His beloved wife of 50 years, Connie (Strano) Kane died August 19, 1999.
He leaves a daughter, Kathleen A. wife of Paul L. Marchand of Sturbridge, a brother, Dan Kane of Maryland, 2 grandchildren; Heather wife of Chris Hodge, and Todd Marchand and his wife Sarah, 3 great grandchildren; Curtis J. and Colin G. Marchand and Andrew Hodge, He also leaves his fiancée, Regina DeChamps of Hanover, CT.
George was born and raised in Hartford, Ct. the son of the late Dr. George C. and Ruth (Newton) Kane, Sr. and lived in the Hartford area for many years prior to living in Charlton and then Sturbridge.
He was a 1943 graduate of Hartford High School and then entered and served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, he saw action in the European and Pacific Theaters.
He was predeceased by brothers, Jack and Fran Kane.
George worked at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 42 years where he retired but he also worked part time for many years as an auditor at the former G. Fox Co. in Hartford for many years.
He enjoyed going to the casinos and bowling, and was active in the Charlton Senior Center and Sturbridge Senior Center.
George’s Funeral will be Monday, December 8, 2014 with a Mass at 12 (Noon) at St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H-Putnam Rd., Ext., in Charlton.
Burial will be private and at a later date in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 3PM to 5PM at the ROBERT J. MILLER-CHARLTON FUNERAL HOME, 175 Old Worcester Rd., in Charlton.
