Obituary

Irene C. (Wilde) O’Brien, 85 of Medway, died December 3 in the Medway Country Manor. She was the wife of the late William D. O’Brien who died in 2008.
Born in Worcester, March 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Earl and Louise (Languirand) Wilde, Mrs. O’Brien was raised and lived in Bellingham before moving to Medway 54 years ago.
She was a graduate Hammond Nursing School in Worcester.
A Registered Nurse, Mrs. O’Brien first worked at Woonsocket Hospital and then for 29 years at Medfield State Hospital.
Irene enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved to travel and had twice crossed the United Sates going the Southern route out and the Northern route back.
She also loved animals and going to the Medway Senior Center.
In earlier days she enjoyed going with her husband to military reunions throughout the country.
Her family, above all, was the thing that brought her greatest joy.
She is survived by her children, David W. O’Brien and his wife Ellen of Northborough, Kathleen M. Hodson of Franklin, Barbara L. Jones and her husband Ken of Walpole and Patricia Hawkins and her wife Marianne of Moosup, Connecticut.
She was the mother of the late Michael E. O’Brien.
She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Cardone and Alice Barr of Milford.
She was the sister of the late Louise “Dolly” Coutu, Mary Sherman, James and William Wilde.
She was the grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 14.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfunweralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 11:00a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.
