Obituary

Appling, GA---Mr. Rudolph Carelock Thomas entered into rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his residence.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in the Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Pastor Charles Rollins officiating. Interment will follow at The Shepherd’s Church Cemetery in Appling, GA. The family request that those attending, the celebration of his life, please wear bright colors, his favorite color was red.
Mr. Thomas was a founding member of The Shepherd’s Church, a 60 year member of IBEW #1579, a founding member of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the board of North Columbia Fire and Rescue and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Antietam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Paschal Thomas, parents, Arbie and Ina Carelock Thomas and a brother, Talmadge Thomas.
His survivors include his daughters, Jenna Thomas-McKie (John) of Appling, GA and Erin T. Dibling of Evans, GA, grandchildren, James Dibling, Shannon Dibling, Michael Dibling, Dalton McKie, Kendall Dibling and Lloyd McKie and brothers, Arbie F. Thomas of Appling, GA and James A. Thomas of North Augusta, SC.
Pallbearers will be Kalub Roach, James Dibling, Michael Dibling, Barry Paschal, Jamie Thomas and Roger Locklear. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews and members of IBEW #1579.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Platt’s Belair Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Shepherd’s Church, P. O. Box 589, Appling, GA 30802.
