Obituary

WORCESTER-Karen Lee (Morgan) Hastings, 56, of Worcester, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

She is survived by her husband Timothy J. Hastings, three children: Adam, and his wife Leilani, Margueritte and Jack Hastings; her mother, Bonnie Lee (Williams) Morgan; two sisters, Pamela Nordstrom and Lori Morgan; brother, Barry Morgan; and several nephews and nieces. Karen was predeceased by her father Laurence E. Morgan.

She was born in Bangor, ME, and graduated from high school in Old Town ME. She attended St. Mary's School of Nursing, New England College, and St. Vincent's Anesthetist program earning her RN, BSN, and CRNA respectively. She went on to school at Kansas University Medical Center where she earned a Master’s of Science in Anesthesia. Karen was a nurse anesthetist with Central Mass Anesthesia Associates for several years.

Karen enjoyed skiing, movie trivia, and was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She loved to travel and was a gifted artist. She was a devoted mother and a steadfast friend to many. Her presence lit up any room and when Karen arrived the fun began. She was a warrior with boundless strength and courage and the world is a lesser place without her.

Karen was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church and a Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 13 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 90 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606. All are invited to remain at church for a reception and time of remembrance immediately following the service. Inurnment in Rural Cemetery will be private. As always, thinking of others, Karen's request was for donations to be made to Habitat for Humanity in lieu of flowers.
