CHICOPEE – David E. Litke, 77, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 30, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving wife, Eileen. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on May 25, 1937, a son of the late Donald C. Darling and Nancy E. (O’Neil) Darling Litke. His dad passed away when he was very young, his mother remarried and he was adopted by the late William E. Litke who raised him as his son. He was raised in Southwick, Massachusetts, graduated from Westfield High School and then furthered his education by receiving an Associate Degree from Holyoke Community College. He moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee around 1995. He was employed for many years in the payroll department and later a courier at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He leaves his loving wife, M. Eileen (Desjeans) Burelle Litke. They were married on May 2, 1997 at Saint Christopher Episcopal Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 17 years of happiness together. He also leaves his children, Aileen Merrill of Jacksonville, FL and Scott Litke of St. Augustine, FL; his step-sons, Douglas Burelle of Tuczon, AZ and Don Burelle of Easthampton; his granddaughter, Carmela Litke; his great-grandson Nathan; and his step-granddaughters, Sydney and Nicole Burelle. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. which will be followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
