Obituary

CHICOPEE – Eleanor June (Dubray) Rochon, 81, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, December 1, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Renaissance Manor on Cabot in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Johnson, Vermont on June 20, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Roland and Gertrude (Dezaine) Dubray. She was raised in Johnson, VT, graduated from Johnson High School and lived there until moving to Chicopee in 1956. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church where she was a member of their Ladies Guild and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, both in Willimansett. She was now a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Willimansett. She was a volunteer at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee and the former Our Lady of Hope Elementary School in Springfield. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Armand J. Rochon. They were married on September 26, 1953 at Saint John the Apostle Church in Johnson, Vermont and were blessed with over 61 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving children, Girard A. Rochon and his wife, Martha “Marty”, of Cedarville, OH, Karen A. Tesny of Weaverville, NC, Mary T. Rochon of Amherst, Paul A. Rochon of Pleasant Hill, CA, Annette M. Rochon of Chicopee and Michael J. Rochon of Springfield; her cherished grandson, Jonathan Tesny and his wife, July; her dear brothers and sister, Everett Dubray, Janet Sheltra and her husband, Bernard, and James Dubray, all of Johnson, VT; her dear brother-in-law, Gregoire Rochon of Amherst; her dear sister-in-law, Alice Talbot of Georgia; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Rochon and Dubray families. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, December 5, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Holyoke Visiting Nurse and Hospice Life Care, 10 Hospital Drive, Suite 201, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
