John A. Adams of Natick passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital of Boston. He was seventy-eight years old.
Born in Boston on July 28, 1936, he was the son of the late Burtley and Mildred (O’Brien) Adams. Raised in Jamaica Plain, he was a 1954 graduate of Roslindale High School.
John received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boston College and his Master’s degree in Taxation from Bentley College.
After his schooling at Boston College, John enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country proudly as an Officer aboard the USS Brownson.
John was a resident of Natick for forty-three years and a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for fifty-three years, thirty-three of which he practiced as a self employed CPA in Natick MA.
He was also a member of the Framingham Country Club and was an avid golfer. With a love for his Irish heritage he became involved as an active member of the Irish Cultural Center in Canton and the Irish Social Club of West Roxbury, in which he participated in Irish Ceili dancing.
He loved to travel especially to Ireland. He was also a passionate reader and had a vast enthusiasm for American history. John was a dedicated sports fan and especially liked the Patriots, Bruins and BC Football. He was very athletic and played in a semi-pro football park league in Boston.
Most of all John was a devoted husband and father who cherished family and social gatherings. John considered working as one of his life’s enjoyments and passions. He was devoted and dedicated to his clients, working diligently until his passing.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Phyllis P. (Murphy) Adams, his six children, Jacqueline Hope and her husband Michael of Medway, Amy Faulkner and her husband William, also of Medway, John Douglas Adams of Pepperell, Carolyn Kirk and her husband John of Ashland, Michael Adams and his wife Jessica of Bellingham and David Adams of Blackstone.
Cherished grandfather of thirteen grandchildren, brother of the late Edward Adams formerly of Hyde Park and brother-in-law of the late Phillip Murphy and his wife Judy of Natick and the late Alice Jenkins and her husband Charles of Maryland.
Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Friday, December 5th at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick with Military Honors. In
