James J. Woodcome, 67, of Worcester and Naples, FL died peacefully Thursday, November 27th at his home in Naples. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Deborah A. (Hanlan) Woodcome; his children, Jill M. Savage and her husband, Michael of Charlton, Beth M. Platow and her husband, Wilhelm of Newburyport and Michael F. Parker and his wife, Johanna of Brookline; a brother, Edmond Woodcome of Fitchburg; a sister, Susan Hammond and her husband, Ronnie of Locust Grove, GA; four grandchildren, Cian, Caden, Kaya and Amelia.
He was born in Fitchburg the son of Edmond and Louise Woodcome. James proudly served with the United States Air Force in Japan during the Vietnam War. He was a technician for many years at New England Telephone Company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Jim had friends from all walks of life. He had an easy manner that drew people out and brought a smile to their faces. At Naples pier in Florida he was known as the person to go to if you had a question or a problem. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s baseball and soccer games and playing doll and ponies with them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
His funeral is Thursday, December 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 3rd from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
