Audrea M. (Ferguson) Devlin, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 91 years old.
Audrea was born in Boston on October 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph P. Ferguson and Mary A. (Pollard) Ferguson. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1941. Audrea was a homemaker most of her adult life where she took special pride in bringing up her 7 children following the death of her husband in 1976. She enjoyed shopping and walking and mostly looked forward to the trips to Foxwoods. She was Past President and member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Audrea is the beloved wife of the late John C. Devlin. She is the devoted mother of Jack Devlin and his wife Dee of West Roxbury, Joan Kane and her husband Dennis of Charlestown, Thomas Devlin of Las Vegas, Kathy Charbonnier and her husband Jim of Tolland, Connecticut, Mary Devlin and Leo McGonagle of Charlestown, James Devlin of Charlestown and Janice Devlin of Charlestown. She is the loving Nana to 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Joan Sodergren of Stoneham and the late Francis Ferguson and his surviving wife Josephine of Charlestown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Audrea's Funeral on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
