New Bedford – Aida Maria Pereira Tavares, age 80 of New Bedford, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fernando deMedeiros and daughter of the late Maria (dos Santos) and Antonio Pereira. Aida was born in St. Michael, Azores, and has lived in the New Bedford Area since 1989.
She was survived by 4 children: Luis Alberto Medeiros, Filomena Pereira Medeiros, Paulo J. Medeiros and Emanuel Medeiros, all of New Bedford; as well as 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Aida was also predeceased by several siblings.
Her Funeral will be on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Calling hours will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening. Burial will take place at Rural Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
