Ruby “Joyce” Reese, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, formerly of Jeffersonville, Georgia, died Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Reese was born November 10, 1936, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Ed and Dumpsy Wilson McNeely. She lived in Jeffersonville most of her life and moved to the community three months ago to be close to her family. She was a retired postal clerk and was a homemaker. Mrs. Reese enjoyed deer hunting, sewing and cooking. She was a member of Fitzgerald Church of God.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years: Charlie Ray Reese of Fitzgerald; daughters: Cherry R. & Wayne Sims of Warner Robins, Pam R. & Michael Gibbs of Fort Valley; a son: Ray & Benita Reese of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Nathan & Samantha Sims, Jamie & Rachel Sims, David Sims, Cameron & Rhiannon Hall, Casey Tucker, Amanda & Brant Phelps and Lindsey & Josh Barron; several great-grandchildren and a sister: Luck W. & Curly Crabtree of Cadiz, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
