Obituary

Francis P. Queenan, 94, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth on November 27th, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy J. (Martin) Queenan, wife of 67 years, who passed away on August 11th, 2014. Loving father to Carolyn Furtado and her husband Allan of Plymouth, Paul and his wife Nancy of Fountain Hills, AZ, Eileen of Hanson, Kathleen Baragwanath and her husband John of Plymouth, Brian and his wife Grazyna of Plymouth and Francis of Quincy. Loving brother of Evelyn Forkin of Quincy and Joseph Queenan of Braintree; loving grandfather of Andrea O’Donnell, Paul Queenan Jr., Danielle Basinski and Michael, Brian and Joshua Queenan; also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
Francis retired as a Supervisor in 1970 from the Boston Naval Shipyard after 30 years of service. He retired from Vaponics Inc. in 1982 after 12 years of service. He was a First Lieutenant in WWII with the Army Air Force and completed 27 missions as a Bombardier and Nose Gunner on B-17's with the 8th Air Force in the European Theater. Among decorations received were the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with (3) Oak Leaf Clusters and Presidential Unit Citation. Born in Boston, MA, he was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School in 1937 and has been a resident of Plymouth since 1978.
All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Francis’ memory may be made to the Cardinal Cushing Center, 405 Washington St., Hanover MA 02339
