Leicester - Darel Clark Nowers, 76, a caring and well-loved man passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Judith (Pfuntner) Nowers; his four children Dale R. Nowers of North Brookfield, Daryl Ann Nowers of Cherry Valley, Michelle J. Nowers and her wife Jennie Nowers of Dedham, and David B. Nowers of Peaks Island, Maine. He also left his grandchildren Brandan P. Thayer, Haley M. Nowers, Joseph Cormier and his wife Shaina Cormier, Benjamin Cormier and his great-grandson Braylan M. Thayer. He leaves his twin brother David G. Nowers and his wife Josephine of Athol, and his sister Hilary Fleming and her husband Thomas of Freedom, ME. He is predeceased by his mother S. May (Paddock) Nowers and his father Rodman C. Nowers, his brother Rodman Nowers and his sister Nancy Hayward and her husband Robert Hayward. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless circles of family and friends. Darel was an active and devoted member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Worcester for over fifty years serving on a number of committees. Darel was also a member of the Leicester Lions Club where he served three terms as President including positions in District 33A. Darel volunteered over forty years of service to Camp Aldersgate in North Scituate, RI, where he served as site committee chair for 25 years. Darel was a Master Mason for 54 years as a member of the Morning Star Lodge and also a member of the Scottish Rite. Darel worked for the Commonwealth of MA for 41 years where he was head farmer at Worcester State Hospital and later in charge of the garage and grounds. Darel loved spending summers at the family cottage on Square Pond, Maine where he enjoyed watching the bald eagles that lived across the lake along with the many birds who visited his feeders. Darel was loved by everyone he met. He had a contagious laugh, and the biggest heart. Scituate, RI 02857. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 10:30am at Epworth United Methodist Church, 64 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA.
