Abington – Woodrow Hickey 95, a lifelong resident of Abington, died Thursday November 27 after a brief period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (Hill) Hickey.
Born and raised in Abington he was the son of the late James T. and Caroline (Vaslat) Hickey and had attended Abington schools.
He was a proud Veteran of World War II having served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945 and was a member of the Abington VFW.
He had worked for Stride Rite Shoe of Brockton and Kalo Pet Foods of Rockland and prior to his retirement in 1984 he had been a familiar face working as a custodian for Abington High School.
He is survived by his daughter Lynne Dorman and her husband John of Mashpee and his son Lee Hickey of Abington as well as 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
