Robert Leonard, 76, of Derry, NH, died Saturday November 29, 2014 in Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born in Boston, MA on September 1, 1938, a son of the late Frank and Eileen (Duston) Leonard. He grew up in Hyde Park, MA, raised his family in Brockton, MA, and moved to Derry, NH five years ago. Robert was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict era. He retired from Garvey Transport in 2008. Robert was an active volunteer for the Jimmy Fund for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Ballarino) Leonard of Derry; his daughter, Mary Edmundson and her husband Buddy of Florida; his son, Robert G. Leonard and his wife Nancy of Biddeford, ME, and their two children Aurelia and Harris Leonard; his daughter Karen Stymest and her husband Brian of Derry, NH, and their two children, Mackenzie and Jackson Stymest; and his brother, Jack Leonard of Weymouth, MA.
There are no calling hours. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, December 3rd at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.
