Giovanni “John” DeSimone, 76 of Somerville, died Wednesday after a long illness in Somerville.
Born in Italy, he lived in Somerville for the past 67 years. Giovanni was a Laborer with Local 22 in Boston for many years and retired in 2003.
Beloved husband of Domenica (Taranto). Devoted father of Rosemary Clark and her husband Randall of Somerville, Elena O'Leary and her husband Joseph of Medford, Francesca DeCristoforo and her husband Joseph of North Reading, John L. DeSimone and his wife Lisa of Somerville. Loving grandfather of Sara Clark, Matthew O'Leary, Lindsey and Emily DeCristoforo. Cherished son of the late Rosaria (DeSimone) and Francesco DeSimone. Dear brother of Rosina Colucciello, Louisa LaVerde both of Italy, Lina Tranfaglia, Elena Colarusso both of Medford and the late Antonio DeSimone. Giovanni is also survived by many loving brother-in-laws, sister-in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Monday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Community Mausoleum, Everett.
