Marilyn (nee Davis) Jourdet Verardo, 86, of Greenville RI, passed away on November 23, 2014, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Intake Center in Providence RI. She was born September 13, 1928, in Paterson, NJ to Henry and Margaret Davis. Marilyn grew up in Wyckoff, NJ and graduated from Ramsey High.
Marilyn is survived by her sons Burton Jourdet II (Chip) of Waldoboro ME and Daniel Jourdet of Lynn MA; siblings Betty Ann Davis of Sycamore IL, Arlene Cooper of Wyckoff NJ, and Henry J. Davis of Lakewood NJ; and five grandchildren, Cassandra, Cody, Casey, Jessica, and Luke, as well as one great granddaughter, Isabella and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands John Verardo and Burton Jourdet and her daughter Mary Lynn Jourdet.
Marilyn’s focus in life was her family, her faith, and her friends. Despite decades of painfully debilitating arthritis, she generously gave spiritual strength and guidance to those she loved, and they responded to her with devotion.
Marilyn was a long-standing member of the Greater RI Baptist Temple in Johnston and previously attended Fardale Trinity Church in Mahwah NJ. Throughout her life, she supported many Christian missions. Inspired by her unshakable faith in the Lord, Marilyn composed and voiced beautiful prayers that moved her family deeply.
Heartfelt thanks go to the professional, compassionate staff of the Philip Hulitar Home and Hospice Center in Providence for the care that helped Marilyn in her last days.
A graveside service will take place December 3 at 1 p.m. at the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery where Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her husband Burt. A memorial service will be held at the Fardale Trinity Church, Mahwah NJ next Spring.
