Paul G. Riding, 88, of New Bedford died November 27, 2014 peacefully at New Bedford Health Care Center surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Margaret C. (McDonnell) Riding.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Samuel F. and Olivonne (Moquin) Riding, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Riding was formerly employed by the New England Telephone Company/Verizon as a central office switchman until retiring after 33 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II and later served aboard the U.S.S. Delta during the Korean War.
Mr. Riding was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Paul Riding and his wife Brenda of Colonial Heights, VA and John Riding and his wife Patricia of Dartmouth; 3 daughters, Elizabeth Dufresne and her husband Rene, Ann Marie Correia and her husband David and Mary Riding, all of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Gerald Riding of New Bedford and Robert Riding of Fairhaven; a sister, Kathleen Duval of Fairhaven; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rita Sousa.
His visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 30th from 3-5 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His Funeral Service and burial on Monday will be private.
