Lucy A. (Ramos) Fortes, 88, of New Bedford died Saturday November 22, 2014 at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Luis B. and Amelia (Almeida) Ramos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Fortes was formerly a grandmother for PACE/Headstart at the T.A. Greene School.
She was a member of the Cape Verdean Women's Social Club, the Our Lady of the Assumption Seniors, and the St. Martin dePorres Guild.
She is survived by her sister, Maria Groebe and her brother, John Ramos, both of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and Godchildren.
She was mother of the late Patrice G. Crayton, and the sister of the late Pauline Cruz, Julia Santos, Delia Gomes, Joseph Ramos, Albert Ramos, and Alves Ramos.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 2, 2014 at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
