Obituary

ROCKPORT – Richard P. “Richie” Haskell, 54, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of Gail E. (Talbot) Haskell.
Born in Ipswich on March 13, 1960, he was the son of the late Warren J. “Hank” and Frances M. (McCormick) Haskell.
Richard attended Essex Elementary School, St. John’s Prep and Babson College of Wellesley, where he studied business administration. He was successful at any endeavor he pursued and enjoyed positions in the fields of accounting and food service and had worked for many years at Lewis’ of Essex. Most recently he worked as a lawn care specialist with PH Lawn Care. He thoroughly enjoyed baseball, as both a player and a youth league coach in Essex and was a huge Boston sports fan and avid animal lover. You could always expect to find Richie on a town baseball or softball team with at least one of his brothers. When the Haskells got together, the sound of their distinct and contagious laughter would fill a room. Richie will be remembered for his wonderful smile and laugh and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Anyone who had a chance to meet Richie will feel the loss of a ‘great Essex boy.’
