Cynthia A. (Canada) Fitchett, age 85, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and being cared for by her loving daughters, Wanda and Janine, on Saturday, November 22, 2014, following a very brief illness. Born in Woburn, Cynthia was the devoted daughter of the late Mary Alice (Finley) & C. Reginald Canada.
Cynthia was one of twelve children, and she was raised here in Woburn, graduating from Woburn High School in the Class of 1946. She worked, for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Choate Hospital of Woburn. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved to travel, and enjoyed many family vacations to Disney World, New Orleans and one memorable cruise to Alaska.
Most of all it was her family that made her happy. "Sunday Meetings" at her house were considered fun days, in the summer. She had five loving grandchildren and three great grandchildren and enjoyed every minute she spent with them.
Cynthia was the beloved wife of the late James R. Fitchett. Devoted mother of Glenn D. Fitchett AKA "Seitu", Wanda R. Holt, Janine M. Hogan and her husband Paul, all of Woburn, and the late Pamela D. Fitchett. Loving grandmother of Charlaine, Stephen, Brittney, Nicholas and Jake & Great Grandmother of Lyrique, Nyla and Londyn. Further survived by her sisters, Shirley, Janet and Nancy Canada and her brothers, James, Daniel, Jerry, Thomas and Kenneth Canada and the late Wendell, Richard and William Canada. Also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN, Wednesday, November 26th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4 thru 8 PM. services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
