Eugene M. “Gino” Vaira, 71, of Derry, NH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 22, 2014, in Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. He was born on October 1, 1943 in Charleroi, PA, a son of the late Louis and Anna (Ostovich) Vaira. Gino worked part time at Papa Gino’s. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, trips to Foxwoods, and riding his Harley Davidson. He was an avid sports fan and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan to his core. He will be remembered for his fun loving nature and his devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Catherine (Bovy) Vaira, two sons, John Welbourne and Steven Vaira and his wife Sarah; one daughter, Michelle Vaira and her boyfriend Jason Loder; three grandchildren, Steven Vaira, Jr., Savanna Vaira, and Alexus Welbourne; two brothers, Louis Vaira and his wife Donna and Charles Vaira and his wife Dolly; four nieces, Lisa Vaira-Haslock, Luanne Ruonavar, Louisa Vaira, and the late Lynda Walker, as well as a tremendous number of close friends he considered his extended family.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 5 - 7 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Funeral services followed at 7:00pm in the funeral home. Cremation followed. Burial will be at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry.
