Obituary

Richard Arthur “Dick” Donahue of Salem, New Hampshire passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Holy Family Hospital after a long illness. Dick was born on July 2, 1930 in Winchester, Massachusetts and was the son of the late Frederick and Pauline (Collins) Donahue. He attended Winchester public schools and Newman Preparatory School. He continued his education at Boston College graduating in 1954 with a degree in Business. In June, 2014, Dick was very happy to attend his 60th class reunion. Go Eagles!

In 1955, Dick settled in Keene, New Hampshire and was district manager for Canada Dry. He later owned and operated Donahue Beverage Company before selling the company in 1969. While residing in Keene, Dick was a member of Keene Country Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. In 1977, he moved to Salem, New Hampshire and continued to work in sales in the Boston area before retiring and later worked part-time at Rockingham Park.

Dick loved restoring old cars and was a member of The Model A Restorers Club of America. One of his last restorations included a 1930 Model A Roadster. He loved taking his grandchildren for rides in the car and they especially liked the rumble seat.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elaine (Gregoire) Donahue and two children, son, Tom Donahue, his wife Tracy and their children Casey, Kevin and Thomas, all of Goffstown, New Hampshire and daughter, Martha Breen and her husband Kevin and their children Caitlin, Sean, Meghan and Daniel, all of Salem, New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his brothers Frederick, George and Robert and sister Pauline Hansen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Family and friends are kindly invited to call on Monday, November 24th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, Massachusetts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 25th at 11:00 AM at Saint Monica’s Parish, 214 Lawrence Street, Methuen, Massachusetts. Interment will occur at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH immediately following the mass. Donations may be made in his memory to Boston College, Office of University Advancement, 140 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
