Carol J. Amirault, 74

Carol J. (Aker) Amirault, age 74, of North Attleboro, passed away surrounded by the embracing love of her family on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham.
Born in Newton, MA on December 25, 1939, she was a loving daughter of the late Charlotte J. (Hammond) Mullen and the late Welton Aker. Carol grew up in the Allston and Dorchester neighborhoods of Boston and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Roxbury. After raising her adoring family, she returned to school graduating at age 52 from Massasoit Community College in Brockton; receiving an Associates of Science Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Prior to retiring, she had worked at Goddard Hospital in Stoughton and at Hillside Adult Day Health Center in Mansfield. She was a talented artist and prior to nursing had taught ceramics in Norton for over 20 years.
Carol was a very active member of the American Cancer Society, and was recognized for her faithful service to the organization with an award, which was presented to her by Hillary Clinton at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Before living in North Attleboro, Carol was a former longtime resident of Norton and Wareham. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and a former member of the Wareham Elks Lodge; where she worked on the Veterans Committee. She is survived by devoted children; Patricia A. Metzger and her husband Brian of North Attleboro, Paul G. Amirault of West Hollywood, CA, Michael E. Amirault and his wife Gloria of Lexington, Laura J. Kischitz and her husband Andy of Bolton, and Christine M. Bride and her husband Joseph of San Diego, CA. She was the former wife of Paul B. Amirault of Revere. She was the sister of Donna Good of Denver, CO and the late Marcia Plovnick and Mary Masterson. She is also survived by her cherished 11 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the beloved grandmother of the late Christopher Amirault.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday November 24th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be held privately at the Chocorua Cemetery in Tamworth, NH
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 23rd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Carol’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908
