Melissa (Holdridge) Hildebrand (97) of
Old Mystic passed away at home on
Saturday Nov. 15, 2014 surrounded
by family. She was born in Old Mystic Nov. 10, 1917 the daughter of William L. Holdridge and Mary (Gray) Holdridge.
Melissa was a graduate of Stonington
High School in 1936. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed gardening. In recent years she was an ardent fan of Uconn women's basketball and enjoyed watching the Red Sox with her sister in-law Dorothy Holdridge.
Melissa was predeceased by her husband
Willard W. Hildebrand, and also by seven
brothers and sisters Phronsie, Odella, Lois, Joseph, William, Francis, and Henry.
She will be sadly missed by her children
Robert and wife Elina of Rochester Hills,
Mich., Donald and wife MaryJane of
Westerly R.I., Nancy Jankovich and fiance
Tom Christie of Old Mystic.
She leaves six grandsons Donald Jr., Robert, Paul, James, Todd, Mark
Hildebrand, and granddaughter Patricia
Schneider. She also leaves ten great
grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the wonderful
care she received from Mary Sepowitz (niece), Virginia Berger, and Donna Hood of the VNA.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday,
November 19, from 6 to 8pm at the Dinoto
Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A
Memorial Service will be conducted on Thursday, November 20 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity or to Trinity Lutheran Church, 110 High St., Ashaway, RI 02804 for the food pantry.
