Obituary

With the same grace and dignity with which he lived his life, Captain Mark Grabherr died on Saturday, November 1st, 2014. He spent most of his 49 years in the town of Mystic, fishing its waters and teaching those around him his love of the sea. Mark graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Marine Affairs and completed his teaching certification at Sacred Heart University.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Maureen, his mother and stepfather Judith and Ray Mandry of Osprey, Florida; his father David and his wife Jennie of Stuart, Florida; his sister Beth and her husband Kevin of Pleasant Valley, NY and their three children, Kevin, Tyler, and Nikky. Mark will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Dina, her husband Chris, and their three children, Jonah, Elle, and Eli, as well as his mother-in-law, Joyce Murray.

His coworkers from the Town of Groton and his forever fishing buddies from Noank lived richer lives for having called him a friend.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held at the Mystic Yachting Center on Wednesday, November 5th, 2014 at 5:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to catchadream.org.

Fish on, dear Mark.
