Isaura Torres, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center- Lake Ave Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 55 years Alfredo Torres; 4 sons- Wilfredo Hernandez, George Torres, Louis Torres, and David Torres; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 4 brothers- Juan Soto, Yito Soto, Benny Soto, and Mario Soto; a sister Hipolita Carmona; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother Jose Soto and a sister Clara Soto.
Isaura was born in Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Juan and Hipolita (Mendez) Soto. She worked as a social worker at the Great Brook Valley Health Clinic for many years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and crocheting. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on Franklin St. in Worcester.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln Street Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses 659 Franklin Street Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
