Bernard S. “Bernie” Viola, a 12 year resident of Lawrence, formerly of East Boston and beloved husband of Lynda (Sobalo) Viola, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 16, 2014. He was 51 years old.
Born in Boston on August 18, 1963, he was the beloved son of the late Michael A. and Barbara H. (Sharpe) Viola. Bernie was a jack of all trades, alway's and willing to help his neighbors and friends. He could fix anything or figure out how to do it. In fact, his neighbor's gave him the “Neighbor of the Year Award” for all of his help and kindness. Above all he was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his beloved wife, Lynda, Bernie is survived by his loving children; John R. and his wife Holly Pellecchia of Peabody and Christina N. and her husband John DeBarros of East Boston, siblings; Bart T. and his wife Gail Viola of Lawrence, Helen T. Viola of Winthrop and Lisa M. and her husband Charles R. Heres of Lawrence, god-son; Bernard Heres of Lawrence, grandchildren; Antonella Rose DeBarros and Olivia and Nina Pellecchia, brothers and sisters-in-law; Joseph and his wife Linda Sobalo and Robert Sobalo, all of Dracut and Kathleen Viola of New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Michael J. Viola and Joseph H. Viola.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 8 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
