John W. “Jack” McLeod JR. of Waltham, formerly of Newton died on Thursday December 9 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 84 years old. Born in Lewiston Maine, he lived in the Oak Hill section of Newton and Newton Highlands for most of his life before moving to Waltham 20 years ago. Mr. McLeod was a graduate of Bates College, University of Maine and received his Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University. Jack was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. McLeod was the Principal of the Warren Junior High School in West Newton and the Bowen School in Newton Centre. He was the past president of the Newton Community Center. The beloved husband of the late Gwen (Hutchinson), he leaves his children John W. McLeod III of Marstons Mills and Patricia A. Shepherd of Natick. He was the brother of the late Norma Paradis. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and his dear friend Ramonda Antico of Sudbury. Graveside services will be held at the Newton Cemetery 791 Walnut Street Newton on Friday December 17 at 11:00 AM.
