Obituary

Paul R. Foley, of Winchester and a former longtime resident of Woburn passed away suddenly November 14, 2014, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME. He was 82 years of age. Paul was the beloved husband of Pauline C. (Caruso) Foley. Born in Woburn, Paul was one of ten children of the late Peter and Evelyn (Phinney) Foley.

Raised and educated in Woburn, Paul was a member of the Woburn High School graduating class of 1950. He went on to further his education and attended Northeastern University. Paul was retired in 1994 from the Boston Edison Company where he worked for 44years. He worked in the telecommunications division and also served as the president of the employees union. He was a founding member and past president of the Woburn City Athletic Club and was an avid tennis player and belonged to the Winchester Tennis Assoc. He was also a member of the Super Senior Tennis of New England and participated in many different tournaments in New England. Together with his wife they enjoyed vacationing and spending many winters in Naples, Florida where they were very active in the Sterling Oaks Community. Paul loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and together with his wife they enjoyed daily walks at the Middlesex Fells area and around Horn Pond.

Paul will fondly be remembered as a devoted husband, son, brother and provider. He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends.

In addition to his late parents, Paul is predeceased by his sister, Claire McLaughlin and brother, Peter Foley. He is survived by his beloved wife Pauline and was the cherished brother of Nancy Brooks of Wilmington, Marcia Doherty, David, Jack, Tom, Charles and Danny Foley, all of Woburn. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, November 19th, at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Mary Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Paul's memory to St. Mary Church, 158 Washington St., Winchester, MA 01890.
