HAMPDEN – Daniel J. Valentine, 63, a longtime resident of Hampden, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 13, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving brothers, Tom and Bob. He was born in Springfield on December 5, 1950, a beloved son of the late Aldo N. and Rosemond (Johnson) Valentine. He was raised in Hampden and graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham. Dan lived in Hampden for 59 years and was employed by his family’s business, Aldo Associates, for over 34 years. Dan enjoyed spending time at the former Adriatic Club in Springfield and was an avid NASCAR fan. Despite being a double amputee and being confined for the past four years at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow, Dan always had a positive outlook on life. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving sister, Marjorie “Teddy” Cuzzone. He leaves his devoted brothers, Thomas A. Valentine and his wife, Sandra, and Robert D. Valentine and his wife, Colette; and his many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Valentine and Johnson families. His family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow for the immaculate care and compassion that they provided Dan over the past four years with special thanks to Lucy and Wendy for sharing in Dan’s “colorful humor”. His family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 pm at the Valentine Manor, 270 Maple Street, Springfield, MA 01105. His burial will be private for his family at a later date at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
