Kiriazis Chatzopoulos, 74, of Southbridge, formerly of Worcester died November 11th at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Konstantina (Sotiropoulos) Chatzopoulos, his son, Simeon Chatzopoulos of Southbridge; his daughter Maggie Moraitis and her husband, George of Charlton; three brothers, Konstantinos Chatzopoulos and his wife Vasiliki of Chrisohorafa, Greece, Athanasios Chatzopoulos and his wife, Soultana of Dusseldorf, Germany and Ioannis Chatzopoulos and his wife, Eirini of Chrisohorafa, Greece; seven grandchildren, Kasey, Frederick, George and Nicholas Chatzopoulos, Christopher and K. Zach Georgiadis and Konstantine Moraitis and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his infant son George Chatzopoulos.
He was born in Chrisohorafa, Greece the son of Simeon and Magdelena (Antoniadou) Chatzopoulos, and came to Worcester in 1977. Mr. Chatzopoulos was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Alexander the Great Cultural Center and had served in the Greek Army. He had worked thirteen years for Phalo Wire and Cable as a shipping foreman and later owned and operated Pizza Chef of Southbridge for many years retiring in 2004. Kiriazis enjoyed his annual trips to Greece with his wife; time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing his do-it-yourself knowledge with them. He will be remembered as a dedicated and tireless worker.
His funeral is Monday, November 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, November 16th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
