Benedetta C. Fama, of Wilmington formerly of Somerville passed away November 10th at the Winchester Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 93 years of age. Benedetta was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Fama. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Isabel (Morano) DiModica.
Benedetta was a longtime resident of Somerville before moving to Wilmington over three years ago. Mostly devoted to her family she loved cooking and especially enjoyed the holidays when she could entertain and cook for her whole family. She also enjoyed attending bingo on regular basis where she would see many friends and have a good time with each other. Shopping was another passion of Benedetta's and she was always ready for the next shopping excursion and hunt for a good bargain.
Benedetta's greatest joy was her family and she will fondly be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, cherished sister and good friend to all that knew her.
Benedetta is survived by her children, Anthony J. Fama of Lowell, Joann V. Roberto and her husband John J. Roberto of Wilmington, and Leo Fama of Winchester. She was the loving grandmother of Michelle Hollingsworth, Holly and Anthony Fama, John A. Roberto, Leo Harrison, Rachael and Leah Fama, the late Nicky Fama and Keri-Ann Roberto. She is also survived by 8 loving great grandchildren. Sister of Lena Giso of Somerville, the late Salvatore DiModica and Zina Grasso.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Saturday, November 15th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Friday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Benedetta's memory to the DaVita Woburn Dialysis, 23 Warren Ave, Woburn, MA 01801-7906.
