GAGEL, Elizabeth “Jeanette” Arrington Korfhage, 98, was born on June 1, 1916 and returned to her heavenly Father November 7, 2014.
Jeanette was a graduate of the ‘old’ Louisville Girls High, class of 1934. She worked many years along side her husband, Clinton, at the Clinton Gagel & Sons Truck Farm. She was the last surviving charter member of the Shively Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful servant of the Lord until her death.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Arrington; her husbands, Albert H. Korfhage and Clinton G. Gagel; a grandson, Lorne Gagel; a son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Young; and three daughters-in-law, Pamela Gayle Korfhage, Dianne Hall Rooney Gagel and Sharon Gagel.
She is survived by her children, Janice K. Young; sons, Albert “Bert” Korfhage (Candy); David A. Korfhage (Pam); George G. Gagel (Barbara); and Paul F. Gagel; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday at Shively Baptist Church, 1599 Sadie Lane with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00pm on Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway and Monday at the church from 9:00am until funeral time.
