RAYMOND, NH - Jean E. (Latterner) McLaughlin, a Korean War Veteran of the U.S.A.F., died peacefully on Saturday, November 8, in Raymond. She was the wife of the later Master Sergeant Leslie E. McLaughlin Sr., Ret. U.S. Army, who died in 1979.
She was born in Charleston, West Virginia, a daughter of the late John Basil and Bertha (Sigwart) Latterner.
During the Korean War, she enlisted into the U.S.A.F. and served in the 2044th AACS Squadron, as a cryptologist at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Jean traveled to many W.A.F. reunions across the country.
After her marriage, the family traveled and lived as a military family at bases throughout the United States, in Arizona, Pennsylvania, S. Carolina, New Jersey, West Virginia, New Mexico, and overseas in Thailand. Upon M.Sgt. McLaughlin’s retirement in 1969, they settled in Tewksbury.
Jean enjoyed gardening, horses, and her beloved cats.
She leaves four children, Leslie E. “Bud” McLaughlin Jr., and his wife Sharon (Boudreau) of Lowell, John A. McLaughlin of Alabama, Patricia J. McLaughlin and her husband Donald Frazier of Raymond, NH, and Michael F. McLaughlin of Dracut.; a brother, Robert Anthony Latterner and his wife Sue (Buchanan) of Charleston, W.Va, her grandchildren, Rachel Smith and her husband Sabastian, Jake Frazier, Erika Rivanis and her husband Charles, and Holly Boadreau-Johnson; her great grandchildren, Ava Smith, Sirena, James, and Anthony Rivanis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Joan M. (Latterner) Zutty, John B. Latterner Jr and his wife Jean M. (Parker) Latterner.
Memorial Visiting Hours are Saturday, Nov. 15, from 12:00 Noon until 2:30 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph.
