Opal Elaine Lewis Turnmire, 62, of Tifton died Monday, November 10, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cook County, where Ms. Turnmire will be laid to rest. Pastor Ronny Vice will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Pete Jaquess, Melissa Limon, Darryl May, Roger Aultman, Carla Hancock and Mario Limon will serve as pallbearers.
Ms. Turnmire was born on May 23, 1952 in Pontiac, Michigan and was the daughter of Marcus William Lewis and Ethel O’Quinn Lewis, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Lewis and Donnie Lewis. She was a homemaker and a member of Believer’s Baptist Church in Tifton.
Ms. Turnmire is survived by one son, Michael Shane Turnmire of Fitzgerald; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Geoff Stevens of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Rikki and Kenneth Christensen of Tifton; three brothers, Billy Lewis of Ellabell, Bobby Lewis of Flintstone and Mickey Lewis of Tifton; two sisters, Carolyn Jaquess of Ellabell and Hazel Mauldin of Tifton; nine grandchildren, Channing Coleman Turnmire of Tifton, Adam Stevens, Ashley Stevens and Amybeth Stevens, all of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Gunner Rogers, Madeline Turnmire, Kelsie Turnmire, Gaven Turnmire and Claudia Christensen, all of Tifton; and four great-grandchildren, Bently Shane Coleman, Cadience Coleman, Gracelynn Coleman and Elana Jimenez, all of Tifton.
