Mae June Fortier, 86, of Manchester died November 6, 2014 at a local healthcare facility surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fairlee, VT on April 20, 1928, she was the daughter of Derwood and Tilly (Partridge) Bowles. At a young age, her family moved to Orford, NH where she graduated from a one room grammar school. She then moved to Hooksett and graduated from Manchester Central High School.
Prior to retirement in 1996, she had worked at the Manchester City Library for many years. Previously, she had worked at both the A&P and Feretti’s Supermarkets. She was also the owner and operator of Mae’s Fine Catering.
Mae took great pride in her cooking and was a wonderful seamstress. Above all else, she loved being a mother and cherished time spent with family.
She was predeceased by her husband Andre A. Fortier in 1977 and her son-in-law Brian Lamy in 2011.
Family members include her daughters Susan Shaw and husband Phil of Spofford, Jeanne Finley and husband David of Bedford, Lynn Lamy of Bedford; her grandchildren, Andre Shaw of Scarborough, ME, Aaron Finley of Truckee, CA, Kyle Finley of Ewa Beach, HI, Kevin Shaw of Holliston, MA, Taylor Finley of Portland, ME, Jared and Reed Lamy of Bedford; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Gabrielle and Michael Shaw, all of Scarborough, ME; one sister, Harriett Britt of NC; nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Parish of the Transfiguration. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
