John G. Abenante, 87 of Medford died Tuesday after a brief illness in the Courtyard Nursing Care Center Medford, MA.
Born in Bristol, RI, he has lived in Medford for the past 60 years and was the son of the late Beatrice (Masanotti) and George Abenante. John was a Tax Examiner with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Boston for 15 years and retired in 1985. He also served in the Navy during WW II from 12/17/1942 to 10/29/1945. Mr. Abenante was an Eagle Scout, for several years was at the Civil Conservation Camp in Vermont and a member of the Rhode Island National Guard.
Beloved husband of the late Mary (Conti) Abenante. Devoted father of John G. Abenante Jr. of Newburyport, and Elaine Amara of Medford. Also survived by 9 loving grandchildren and 1 loving great granddaughter. Brother of Anne Ferreira of Arizona and the late Leonard Abenante.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Saturday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
