David C. Ehret Sr., age 65, passed away on Nov. 3, 2014 at the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst. He was born on Nov.2, 1949 in Allentown, PA. David was a son of the late Robert Ehret. He leaves his mother Dorothy (Rose) Ehret of Glenalden, PA. He served as a Sgt in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. David later worked as an expediter for the US Postal Service for over 42 years before he retired in 2011. He was a former communicant of St Patrick’s Church. David enjoyed hockey and was a Hockey coach for Tri-City for 8 years. He loved his family and being a grandfather. He is predeceased by his wife Donna M. (Murphy) Ehret, who passed away in 2005. He leaves 2 sons, David Ehret Jr., and his girlfriend Wendy of Chicopee and Daniel Ehret of Chicopee; 1 daughter, Devon D’Amours and her husband James of Granby; 1 brother Robert Ehret of Glenalden, PA; 2 sisters, Darlene Weinheimer of Gypsum, CO and Linda Webb of Glenalden, PA along with his beloved grandson Cameron. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Grise Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St Patrick’s Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
