Obituary

CHICOPEE – Alberta J. “Micki” (Richter) Genereux, 87, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving daughter, Kathie. She was born in Holyoke on March 8, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Edward G. and Jennie S. (Whitford) Richter. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School, attended Holyoke Community College and lived in Holyoke until 1945 when she moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee. Micki was employed for many years as a noon mom for the Chicopee School Department at Bellamy School. During her leisure time, Micki enjoyed exercise classes at Gold’s Gym in Chicopee. Active in her faith, she was a communicant at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Wilfred A. “Wolfie” Genereux who was Called Home on March 25, 2006; her loving son, James A. Genereux who was Called Home on April 16, 1956; her dear brothers, Edward and John Richter; and her dear sisters, Beatrice Derosier, Clematis Flynn, and Viola Frechette who was Called Home on October 6, 2014. She leaves her devoted daughter, Kathie J. Genereux and her partner, Rob Blanchard, of Duxbury, VT; her two cherished granddaughters, Ashleigh J. Wiesel and Samantha J. Wiesel, both of Scottsdale, AZ; her special cousins, Tony and Barbara Brin of South Hadley; and her dear friend, Donna Ruel of Chicopee. In addition, Micki also leaves many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Genereux and Ritcher families. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
