Evelyn Roberts Royal, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, November 7, 2014, at Sturgeon Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Ben Hill County with Elder Paul Thomas and Elder Philip Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitley Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday evening, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Royal was born December 22, 1934, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Jim & Ella Bea Jones Roberts. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Royal loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling with her husband Whit to fox hunts. She was a faithful member of Sturgeon Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons: Melvin & Sherrie Cravey, Willie & Julie Cravey, Andy & Gina Royal and Victor Royal, all of Fitzgerald; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister: Carolyn & Jerry Hobby of Wray; three brothers: Tillman & Frances Roberts of Fitzgerald, Frank “Pee Wee” & Rita Roberts of White, Georgia and Clifford & Brenda Roberts of Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Whitley “Whit” Royal; a brother: Roscoe Roberts and three sisters: Doris R. Kilgore, Estelle Aycock and Odelle Reynolds.
