Obituary

Mrs. Phyllis Kuligowski, 91, of Derry, NH passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, after a period of failing health. Her former home was at 85 North High Street in Derry. Born in Everett, MA, on June 4, 1923, she was the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Benson) Johnson. Growing up in Skowhegan, Maine, the family moved to Derry, where she spent her senior year, and met her future husband. Married in 1946, they raised four children, who traveled with them on military tours, making them an extremely close family. Upon retirement, they retired to Farmington, NH, where they resided for 40 years, with her working first as assistant, then head librarian at the Farmington Library. In 2003, they achieved a dream when they moved onto their own land in Derry, where dad, and his friend Ben Plocharczyk, grew, and sold their vegetables at their roadside stand. It was here Mum read, created art and poetry, and continued her lifelong commitment to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also maintained a close relationship with her siblings and their children.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband in 2011, her son Michael in 2011, her granddaughter Kalia in 2011, and grandson Adam in 2009. Her remaining children are Stanley Jr., Jan, and daughter Stephanie.
Following cremation, calling hours were held Saturday, November 8th from 10-11am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, that concluded with a memorial service at 11:00am. A public reception will follow at the Marion Gerrish Center from 11:30 – 3:30. Memorial contributions may be made to the humane charity of your choice.
